Croatian tourism figures in 2015 matched the numbers, according to the acting Croatian Minister of Tourism, Darko Lorencin,
Srđ Portolan reports that the Croatian tourism figures released by the Ministry on Thursday talk about 14 150 000 tourists who have visited Croatia in 2015 which in return is a 8.3 % rise in comparison to 2014.
Istria region is firmly on the pole position, leading the way with almost 3.5 million visitors, followed by Split-Dalmatia County with 2 million arrivals, then Kvarner region and Zadar County with 2 million visitors each as well. Srđ Portolan expresses slight disappointment with Dubrovnik figures of 1.5 million visitors. However, Portolan believes that Dubrovnik-Neretva County figures are firstly on the county level and secondly Dubrovnik attracts different profile of a guest in comparison to Kvarner region. Srđ Portolan bears that out of 14 150 000 visitors 12 737 000 were the foreign ones. Among them Germans created the largest number of overnight stays followed by Slovenians, Austrians, Czechs, Italians, Poles,Slovaks and British.
Srđ Portolan adds that destination wise, Rovinj was Croatia’s top destination followed by Dubrovnik and Poreč. Srđ Portolan also tells us that December saw a 16 % increase in the number of arrivals, a figure stopped at 181 500, largely due to the excellent organization of the Advent in Zagreb event by Zagreb Tourist Board. Portolan reminds us that Zagreb occupied 7th place on the most popular Croatian destinations list.
We are hopeful that Croatian tourist figures in 2016 will look better than Croatian tourist figures of 2016!
